RICHARD "DICK" KIMBALL - LEXINGTON, Mass./ COLCHESTER - Richard "Dick" Kimball, 84, of Lexington, Mass., and Colchester, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2012. He was born in Melrose, Mass., the son of Kenneth S. Kimball and Edith (Wright) Kimball. A graduate of Melrose High School and Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine, Dick attended the University of Maine, Orono. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dick held a variety of financial and engineering positions at Lincoln Laboratory and the MITRE Corporation, retiring in 1987, with over 30 years of service. He was also co-owner and treasurer of M/K Engineering, Inc., a municipal fire alarm business. Dick served for many years on the Lexington Auxiliary Fire Department, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He served as a Lexington town meeting member. Dick was past president of Spalding's West Shore Association and served for many years as a trustee. He was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC, Lexington. A Jack of all Trades, he built everything from a bird house to an outhouse to a summer house, and could use a hatchet or a ratchet to patch it, catch it, match it or attach it. Dick loved Lake Champlain for boating, swimming, fishing and especially the beautiful sunsets. And he still had lots of time to spend with his family, which is what he enjoyed most of all. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Seaver); children and their loved ones, son, Bob and Krissie Deeks, son, Tom and Stacey Gibbs, and daughter, Emily and Tom Collins; grandchildren, Tommy Kimball, Amanda and husband, James Clere, and Ricky, Tony, and Bobby Lania. He was predeceased by his son, Kenny. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at a later time.
