BERWICK, Maine ; After a brief illness, our Mother bid this world farewell on Aug. 6, 2008. She was born Patricia Brooks Fowler, second child to Charles Cedric and Margaret Mary Fowler, on July 9, 1929. Her sisters, Louise Small and Jean Neale and her husband, Norman, are enjoying their elder years. Pat was born in Melrose, Mass., and moved her family to Alfred, Maine, 34 years ago. She left Maine to return to Massachusetts to care for her own mother and met up with William Small, an old childhood friend, and they married in Florida. Mom and Bill had a unique relationship and Bill will miss his wife of 18 years. Pat's children, Pamela Brooks Carignan, Charles Bradford Stoddard and Richard Clayton Stoddard and wife, Sara, survive her. Her daughter-in-law, Hazel, was very special to her. Her grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Serrecchia, Tabitha Brooks Stoddard (who predeceased her on Jan. 11, 2008), Andrea Bea MacAlpine and her husband, Jonathan, Jeremy, Sara and husband, Anthony, Miranda, Richie "Clay" and Seth will miss her intelligence. She was totally enamored with her great-grandsons, Cedric and Elliot, and had yet to meet Anthony and Alexander. Pat enjoyed painting, ice skating in her younger years, dancing, shopping with her daughter, chicken parmigiana, her kokopelli sweater, Angus, Louise, Hershey and Gwennie, her beloved grand puppies, Chanel No. 5, crossword puzzles, and her favorite movie, "Legends of The Fall." Pat and Bill traveled between their homes in Berwick, Maine, and Port Richey, Fla.In lieu of flowers, please feel free to give a donation in Pat's name to the Hyder House Hospice Care in Dover, N.H. www.seacoasthospice.org, where she spent her final hours in peace.
