->Barlow, Nancy SchmalzAge 83, passed away June 23 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca following a major stroke. A loving mother and a dedicated and devoted teacher, she taught in elementary schools in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, and 19 years in Ithaca (Beverly J. Martin, Danby and South Hill). She was also an enthusiastic supporter of local cultural and human service organizations. Nan is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Jackie Wood and granddaughter Julia of West Chester, PA, sons Jeff of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Greg of Middle River, MD and grandsons Tyler and Cory. Nan is also survived by a brother Chandler Schmalz of Conyers GA. Nan was born and raised in Dedham, MA, the daughter of Alfred and Edith (Young) Schmalz. She held degrees from Westbrook College (for which she served as a Trustee), and Boston University. Memorial arrangements will be private. She would be pleased if donations in her memory were made to the Family Reading Partnership, 54 Gunderman Rd., Ithaca.
