MARY McCARTHY TITUSVILLE Mary F. McCarthy passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008, at her home in Titus ville, FL, at the age of 93. She was born in New Haven, CT, on October 5, 1914, and was the youngest of three children born to Joseph and Margaret Foley. The family later moved to West Newton, MA, where Mary graduated from high school in 1932. Upon her completion of business courses she worked as a medical secre tary in Boston, MA. for Hoffman LaRoche Pharmaceuticals. After raising her children she worked as a director for the Titusville Garden Club and transcribed medical notes for a local oph thalmologist. She often spent summers with her Aunt Josie in Savan nah, GA., where she met her future husband, Laurence A. McCarthy. They married in Savannah in 1945 and later moved to Florida in 1950. They relocated to Titusville in 1957 where their five children were raised. She was a mem ber of St. Teresa Catholic Church and volunteered for the altar soci ety and served as a Eucharistic Minister to include administering commu nion to the sick at Jess Parish Hospital. She enjoyed bible study and hosted meetings in her home. Her passion in life was to raise and offer her children greater opportunities; all her children graduated from college and secured profes sional careers. She is survived by her five children; eleven grandchil dren, and two great grandchil dren. They include L.A. (Tony) McCarthy of Mercer Island, WA, Peg Long of Oceanside, CA, Josie Graham of Ridge, MD, Dr. Frank McCarthy of Edenton, NC, and Jim McCarthy of Titusville, FL. Visitation and rosary serv ices will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Mass will be offered Thursday morning at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. A recep tion will follow at Avila Hall.
