<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">TUFTONBORO -- Mary Jane "Jackie" (Allen) Cheney, 90, of North Line Road, died Sept. 17, 2010, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton.She was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Hull, Mass., to W. Lloyd and Muriel (Wingate) Allen. She she grew up in Newton, Mass., and graduated from Beaver Country Day School. She worked as a legal secretary for Welch and Forbes in Boston.She was a U.S. Navy veteran of WorldWar II, serving as a 1st Class Machinist Mate. She was the women's golf champion at Woodland CC in Newton. She moved to Tuftonboro more than 40 years ago and was a member of the Melvin Village Community Church.Family membes include her husband, Lyle Cheney of Tuftonboro; her stepmother, Gertrude M. Allen of Edgecomb, Maine; a daughter, Susan. O'Brien of Portsmouth; a half-sister, Melody L. Allen of Warwick, R.I.; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.SERVICES: A memorial service will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at Melvin Village Community Church.
