Avis de décès de Mary-Edith Sommers

SOMMERS, Mary Edith (nee Birks) Born October 1, 1912 in Westlock, Alberta. Passed away peacefully at Kiwanis Care Centre in North Vancouver on December 9, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Joseph and survived by her daughter Marilyn Remus of West Palm Beach and her three sons Michael of North Vancouver, Jack of Halifax and Jerry of New Westminster. She was much beloved. Mary will be fondly remembered by her many friends in Victoria for her service to the Silver Threads Service for seniors and her many community/neighbourhood activities. She will be particularly remembered for hosting impressive Halloween bonfires and generously sharing from the garden she tended with Joe at 2400 Cedar Hill X Road. Her sense of humour and fun will be missed. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the North Vancouver Kiwanis Care Centre for the care, kindness and compassion they extended to Mom. We would also like to particularly recognize the friendship of companion Tara Macauley who truly became family to Mary. At Mary's request there will be no funeral service.
