MANCHESTER -- Marie I. Burke, 90, died April 15, 2009, at The Arbors of Bedford, after a period of declining health. She was born in Manchester, Aug.1, 1918, to John J. and Helen (Martin) Kearns. She was a lifelong resident of the city. She attended Manchester schools. She and her husband, Bernard, owned and operated several businesses, most notably Bunny's Superette, a Manchester landmark since 1952. She was a longtime communicant of St. Catherine Church. She will be remembered for her wit and sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and dancing. She was married to Bernard P. Burke for 31 years. He died May 12, 1971. IN HER LIFE: Family members include her daughter, Mrs. John (Bernardine "Bunny" ) Doneldson of Auburn; two sons, Edward J. Burke and his wife, Nancy, of Hooksett, and Thomas M. Burke and his wife, Marjorie, of Manchester; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis J. Kearns of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, cousins; her dear friends, Omer Roy and his wife, Doris. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Kearns. SERVICES: Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester. The funeral will be Monday with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine Church, Webster Street, Manchester. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
