Marcel Louis Champagne janvier 6, 1924 - juin 19, 2015 Marcel Louis Regis Beaugrand-dit-Champagne passed away peacefully on June 19, 2015 at his home in Ville Carignan, Quebec. He was married to his beloved late wife, Ada (Ida) Hoare for 52 years. Survived by sister, Priscilla. Predeceased by parents: Celestin and Eva, siblings: Jeanne, Jean-Remi, Edouard, Henri, and Romeo. Proud father of: Corinne, Renée (the late Richard), Margo (Richard), Denise (John), and Claudette (Grant). Devoted grandfather to: Matthew (Helene), Melissa (Jason), Justine (Michael), Cameron, and loving great grandfather to: Christine and Lilly. Marcel also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Marcel was born in Somerset, Manitoba on January 6, 1924. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy as Stoker Second Class on the HMCS Iroquois during WWII and recently received France's highest military distinction, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Marcel worked for the T. Eaton Co. and enjoyed a lengthy retirement. With the heart of a child and a keen sense of humour, Marcel's home was "Party Central" to family and friends. He was a gracious host and the life of hilarious family charade parties. He enjoyed a competitive game of cribbage, a challenging crossword puzzle and was an avid sports fan. Marcel endearingly shared his simple four-letter philosophy on life, "L-O-V-E" over a glass of fine cognac and a pipe with all who would listen. He truly lived by his philosophy and will be greatly missed by all. Special thanks to Marcel's nurses, doctors, the CLSC, and our dynamic duo, Matt and Cam for their compassion and care in making this journey peaceful. Resting at La Maison Darche, 933 Perigny Blvd, Chambly. 450-463-1900 Visitation on Tuesday, June 23, 2:00-5:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by memorial service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
