WALLINGFORD - Manuel Gonzalez, 56, of South Orchard St., Wallingford, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of 38 years of Zita Freitas Gonzalez.Manuel was born in Havana, Cuba, May 18, 1954, a son of the late Manuel C. Gonzalez and Madeline Calvo Gonzalez, and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He was employed for several years at Wallace Silversmiths and was the proprietor of the Yalesville Bakery. Manuel was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.In addition to his wife, Zita, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Gonzalez; his two sons, Jeffrey Gonzalez and his wife, Tina, and Derek Gonzalez, all of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Kayla, Derek Jr., Eduardo, Troy, Jeffrey Jr., Robert and Haylee; his siblings, Lucas Gonzalez and his wife, Noemi, of Wallingford, Gabby Mosqueda and her husband, Marco, of Meriden, and Mercedes Curr and her husband, Charles, of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Eduardo Sardinas Gonzalez.His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, Friday, Nov. 5, from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, from The Wallingford Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. www.wallingfordfh.com
