Mable Edna Plumb (née Shaw) December 11, 1921 - February 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Born December 11, 1921 in Park Siding, BC. Passed away peacefully February 28, 2005 at Cowichan District Hospital. Predeceased by husband George, brother Alvin and son Marcus. Survived by children Thera Edwards (Bob), Ronald Plumb (Sherry), Robert Plumb and Elin Plumb; grandchildren Dennis Edwards, Elin Edwards, Sherry Hought, Angelina McAulley, Tim Plumb, Warren Robinson, Patsy Baader (Tom), Tina Robinson, Sandy Maynard, Tony Anderson and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also survived by her brother Albert Shaw of Edmonton and brother-in-law Bob Plumb of Courtenay. Mable spent her school years in Park Siding, moving to Creston, BC where she met and married George in 1940. They spent several years on beautiful Bowen Island before returning to Creston Valley where they had many relatives in 1953. In 1962, Mable, George and family moved to the Cowichan Valley where they built and operated the tourist attraction “Glass Castle”. Both Mable and George especially enjoyed their years working together and meeting people from all over the world. Over the years, Mable was very active in many community organizations, including Guides, Scouts, Cowichan Station School, United Appeal, Arthritis Society and the ACW at St. Andrews Anglican Church. Mable was warmly appreciated for her friendly, considerate nature, generous ways and optimistic spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2475 Koksilah Road, Cowichan Station on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Reverend Dawn Braithwaite officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Mable’s memory to the Arthritis Society, PO Box 92 Duncan, BC V9L 3Y2 would be greatly appreciated.
