WINCHESTER - Lydia E. (Hobbs) Dragon, 77, of Winchester died Wednesday evening at home.She was born the daughter of Edith (Hier) and Fred M. Hobbs on July 20, 1931, in Proctor.Lydia was educated in the Middlebury school system and completed the 11th grade at Middlebury High School before leaving to help the family. On April 18, 1949, at the age of 17, she took her vows and married Peter H. Dragon Sr. in Salisbury.She has been a resident of Winchester for 20 years and was a prior resident of Swanzey for more than 20 years.Mrs. Dragon was employed at the Plum Pak Co. in Winchester for the past five years. She worked as a line person. She was the type of person who loved to go to work. Prior to her current position, she was employed for more than 25 years at Bradley's Department Store in Keene.Lydia had many outlets for relaxing. She enjoyed gardening, watching the birds and crocheting. But mostly she enjoyed helping others and doing charity. She was also a member of the Winchester Women's Garden Club.Mrs. Dragon is survived by her three children, Peter H. Dragon Jr. of East Swanzey, Susan A. Winter of Winchester, and Nancy M. Sullivan of Swanzey, her siblings Albert Hobbs of Middleburg, Burton Hobbs of Pittsford, June Dragon of Swanzey, Barbara Loomis of Hydeville, and Maureen Ash of Gansevoort, N.Y.She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.She was predeceased by five siblings, Stewart Hobbs, Wayne Hobbs, Junior Hobbs, Bernard Hobbs and Carolyn Hobbs. Her husband, Peter, of 51 years died Oct. 31, 2000.Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
