Lillian J. Gibson, 82, loving wife, mother, sister grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Sunday in Tallahassee. Mrs. Gibson was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Lila and Lee Jarrett on January 26, 1925, the only sister of four brothers. She has lived in Tallahassee since 2000. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Wayne; her three children and their spouses, Susanne and Robert Abernathy of Tallahassee, Nancy and George McDaniel of Greenville, S.C., and Stephen and Ellen Gibson of Westfield, Mass.; a brother, Burton Jarrett of Pittsburgh, Pa. Mrs. Gibson is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristina Abernathy and her fiancee', Adam Goff, of Tallahassee, Ryan and April Abernathy of Jacksonville, Fla., Jason and Suzette McDaniel of Jersey City. N.J., Alison Abernathy of Tallahassee, Cheryl McDaniel of Denver, Co., and Kyle Gibson and Sarah Lloyd of Westfield, Mass.; one great-grandchild, Reid Abernathy of Jacksonville, Fla. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, December 6, at the Chapel of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1700 Meridian Rd., Tallahassee, FL. Contributions in memory of Lillian may be made to a local animal rescue organization or the Humane Society. We will miss her loving, generous, and joyous spirit.
