Leah Sumter Moore COLUMBIA - The Homegoing Service for Mrs. Leah Sumter Moore will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church (110, Greenlake Drive, Hopkins) with burial at Zion Pilgrim Memorial Gardens. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home (2930 Colonial Drive, Columbia) has been entrusted with the arrangements. The visitation for Mrs. Moore will be held this evening at the funeral home form 6-7:00 p.m. Leah was born in Hopkins, South Carolina to the late Richard and Celia J. Sumter. Following a brief illness, she passed away on November 11, 2014 at Palmetto Richland Heart Center. She was 85. Leah attended the public schools in Richland County. For 59 years, she married to the love of her life, Jesse Moore. She and Deacon Moore are members of The Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the Jubilee Choir and the Pulpit Aide Ministry. She is survived by her husband, Deacon Jesse Moore; a nephew raised as their son, Deacon Bryant Sumter; siblings: Freddie Sumter, Sr., Richard (Edna) Sumter, Geraldine (Elwood) McCollum, Mary Sims, Retha Sumter and Rosetta (Jesse) Sims; and a host of nieces nephews, other loving family and dear friends.
