Mr. Joseph (Joe) Ervin Fields passed on April 30, 2008. Joe was a lover of music and taught note singing in the Northeast Georgia District and was the first black disc jockey at WDUN radio station in Gainesville. He was a deacon at Springfield Baptist Church in Lula and a member of the Shriners Club. His homegoing celebration will be Monday, May 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 1010 Mill St., Gainesville. The Rev. Rodney A. Lackey Jr., pastor, The Rev. Alfred Hazel, eulogist. Interment, Alta Vista Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 512B Hunter St., Gainesville, at 10 a.m. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Dorothy Fields; son, Jeffery Fields; stepson, Wayne Riley; grandchildren, Terrence Allen, LaQuita Allen, Chancey Fields, Commetta, Tamika and Wayne Riley Jr., and Kiesha and Marty Riley; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
