O'BERRY, JOSEPH CARL, 84 Melrose - Joseph Carl O'Berry of Gainesville died Monday at the VA Medical Center. He was 84. Mr. O'Berry was born in Charlton County, Ga. He was a retired manager with Chrysler Corporation. He was Baptist and greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and Grandchildren. Mr. O'Berry served in the United States Army WWII, 218th Signal Corp., and after landing on Normandy he went through Frame to Luxembourg. He helped build and defend the bridge on the Rhine and then fought in the Belgium Bulge "Battle of the Bulge". He received a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Hughes O'Berry of Melrose; Daughter, Carol O'Berry Brown of Hawthorne; Son, Randy Carl O'Berry of Melrose; Grandchildren, Teresa Corbet, Kelly, Jason, Mathew, and Taylor O'Berry; Great Grandchildren, Garrett and Penny Corbet. Graveside Services will be held Friday, August 18, 11:00AM, Saluda Cemetery, Orange Heights, Fl. With Rev. Buster Appling Officiating.
