John Henry Ford (Veteran) GREER-- John Henry Ford, 86, passed away June 26, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. Born September 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Claude and Nina Gay Ford. Surviving are sons, Don H. Ford of Simpsonville, and Phillip B. Ford and wife, Paula of Blue Ridge; two sisters, Jewel Feronti of Simpsonville and Barbara Massengale of Mauldin; two grandchildren, John Ford, son of Phil, and Shelley Dalessio, daughter of Don; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Grace Hill Ford, a daughter, Vickie Lynn Ford, and a sister, Pallie Bass. Henry went to school in Simpsonville. He was Corporal in the U.S. Army and served time in Osaka, Japan and retired from Springs Industries after 41 years. He was a loving, caring and jolly person with a great personality. Henry was a devoted Christian, who loved God, family, and friends. He loved to cruise around in the community and kick back and enjoy home life, and he was a big Clemson football fan. A special thanks to the CCU staff at St. Francis Hospital and Stanley Barton (cousin) for a job well done helping care for our daddy. Thanks also goes out to churches, Five Forks Baptist Church and Cross Roads Baptist Church, and to George and his staff at the Spice Restaurant, your kindness, love and generosity is deeply appreciated. What a great husband, dad, brother, and friend; he will be sorely missed by many. Casual dress requested. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Five Forks Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Howard Foster. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The families are at their respective homes.
