FEY, John AubreyAge 81. Madison, TN. Born February 3, 1929. Passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2011. John was the son of John Paul Fey and Bessie Thomas Nunnelly of Nashville. He attended Assumption School in Germantown and graduated from Father Ryan High School. John loved life to the fullest. His motto: "You can never let yourself get down and stay down." He was always full of joy and energy. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his concern for their wellbeing and everyone who knew him will miss him. He enjoyed volunteering and donating his time to various projects. He had a quick wit and readiness to tell a joke. It was always said of him that he knew how to keep Christmas. If any man alive possessed the knowledge, it was John. He, with the help of his friends, celebrated Christmas Day for 16 years with an area singles Christmas Day party for the single and divorced because he felt that no one should be alone on this wondrous day. This year, he will be spending Christmas with Jesus Christ. John established routes for Blevins Popcorn Company, operated a wholesale produce route, and his last 20 years in the work force was spent working as a buyer for Shoney's, Inc. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, had served as President of Nashville Singles Fellowship and Single People's Society and as an Ambassador for HealthSpring Insurance Company and Living Well in Gallatin. He was president of the Young at Heart group at First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He had also worked as a volunteer at TCMC and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He received the Good Samaritan Award in 1985. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in Cuba. John is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Costner Fey; sons, John Terral Fey (Sherry), Paul Anthony Fey (Carol); daughters, Julia Fey Ashbee and Mary Fey Everett; step-daughter, Nancy Wicks (Bill) and step-son, Charles Blair, Jr. (Sherry); 11 grandchildren; great grandchildren. Service: First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville, Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. Visitation: Spring Hill Funeral Home, Madison, Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 3 - 5 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m., and Wednesday, January 26, at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, 217 East Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 for "Christ's Way."
