Jean Clare Francis, 76, Sarasota, died March 31, 2003. She was born May 17, 1926, in Cleveland and came to Sarasota in 1988 from Toledo, Ohio. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, the American Red Cross in Toledo and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church. She received her registered nursing degree from the nursing school at Charity Hospital, Cleveland. Survivors include her husband, Thomas R.; daughters Mary K. Grolle, Carol M. and Joan C., all of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kathleen A. Waggoner of Waterville, Ohio, Susan F. McCarthy of Toledo and Sally T. Leahy of Strongsville, Ohio; sons T. Richard of Portland, Ore., and Michael J. of Sylvania, Ohio; a sister, Ann O'Connor of Sarasota; and 19 grandchildren. The memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, Sarasota. The Good Earth Crematory, Bradenton, is in charge.
