George Stevenson Drummond PENNINGTON - George Stevenson Drummond, 88, of Hopewell Township passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Capital Health Hospital at Hopewell. Born in Riverdale, NY, George was a resident of Princeton for 30 years and then moved to Hopewell Township, where he resided for 58 years. George graduated from Princeton High school and the Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia, where he took his training to become a tool-and-die maker. He was employed at Dow Jones as the head press machinist and at The Ingersol Rand Research facility in the model shop. George was proud to serve his country, when at the age of 18 he enlisted in the US Army to become a paratrooper. He was awarded the Purple Heart for bravery in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II in 1945. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 and reenlisted in the Marine Corps in 1946 to serve through 1948. George was a very kind and fun-loving man who was always ready to help neighbors, friends, and family. He was an outdoorsman, and in his early years enjoyed hunting with the companionship of his dogs. Son of the late George Boyd Drummond and Allison Stevenson Drummond,, and brother of the late Robert, Andrew and Douglas Drummond, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carmela (Armonia) Drummond; daughter, Stacy Drummond, son-in-law, Jeffrey Keyton, grandson, Nevada Keyton, and brother, Alexander Drummond. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends. George's family would like to acknowledge and thank Geraldine Carwin, his caregiver, for her kind care and compassion during his illness. Family and friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. and a memorial service will be at 3 p.m. at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home at 40 Vandeventer Ave. in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Pennington First Aid and Rescue Squad, 110 Broemel Place, Pennington, NJ 08534 or The Humane Society of the US, 2100 L Street, NW Washington, DC 20037.
