GIBSON, FREDERICK GLENVILLE - On May 28, 2011, Frederick Wayne Gibson, 77, passed away peacefully and will now be joined in the Kingdom of our Lord. Born in Troy, NY on September 22, 1933 to Catherine and Robert Gibson, he grew up in Lansingburgh. He was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and was proud of his hometown. He was a star baseball player in high school, and his love for the sport carried out throughout his life-even playing for Old Timers Baseball in his senior years. Frederick was a communications specialist in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was proud to serve his country and carried his Army photo in his wallet at all times. He worked for General Electric ("Generous" Electric as he called it) as a Production Supervisor. He was also an active member and usher for St. John the Baptist Church for over thirty years. Fred bought a home in Schenectady with Alice, his wife of thirty-one years, where they raised their four children, Maureen (Ronnie) Fagle, Dan (Olga) Gibson, Tom (Patti) Gibson and Erin (Rob) Burns. Fred's greatest joy was being "Pepa" to his eight grandchildren: Jack, Luke, Molly, Mark, Trevor, Nicole, Kayla, Darby and Sage and to great-granddaughter Rylee. He is also survived by his niece Kathy (Tom), nephew Dave and grandniece Becky. Some knew him as Ol' Fred, some knew him as Wayne-but everyone knew him as one of the most sincere and generous people they have ever known. His wit and laughter will be what we remember most. Fred was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Bob Gibson. These two proud Irish brothers will be joined together again in Heaven....enjoying a Guinness and talking about the Yankees. Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=ADA'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=troyrecord'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=American Diabetes Association'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=https://donations.diabetes.org/site/Donation2?df_id=4362&4362.donation=form1&s_src=legacy&s_subsrc=obit&set.TributeFirstName=Frederick&set.TributeLastName=Gibson'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=Frederick'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Gibson'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=235673852'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=235673852'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>American Diabetes Association<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }());, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Frederick W.
