EVELYN JANE HOBEN Evelyn Jane Hoben, 85, of Indian River Shores passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19th, 2007. Mrs. Hoben was born January 26, 1922 to Harry and Esther Krause. She is survived by her son John D. Jr.,(his wife Sue) of Grosse Pointe, MI, and daughters: Deborah Scott Farmington, MI, Sally Hoben (her husband Edward) Rochester Hills, MI, Patricia Hoben Carter (her husband Charlie) Milwaukee, WI, and Jennifer Hoben Williams (her husband Henry) Glen Cove, NY. She is also survived by her sister Susan Braddock of New York, NY, 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John D. Hoben, Sr., and an infant son, Kevin. Jane spent her childhood in Ohio, then moved to the Detroit, Michigan area where she worked as a model and retail buyer before getting married. She and her husband Jack raised their children in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, where she was an active volunteer in the community and at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. She and her husband had been residents of John's Island since 1972, becoming full- time residents in 1980. While living in Vero Beach, she continued her volunteer efforts with the John's Island Service League and the Indian River Hospital. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Jane's hobbies included playing bridge and painting. Family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm, Friday, March 23rd, at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. On Saturday, March 24th, the family will hold a private service. She will be buried alongside her husband at the John's Island Cemetery, Indian River Shores.
