September 10, 2005 Ernest F. (Erny) Baker, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 10, at Birchwood Health Care Center. Erny was born in Clay and was a life resident of Clay. He worked for the North Syracuse Central School District from 1958-1972. He then went to work for BOCES for 33 years, where he was the superintendent of buildings and grounds, retiring in 1988. Erny also worked for Meals on Wheels in North Syracuse, and was the vice president of the Clay Historical Association. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores. Survivors: His wife of 16 years, Thalia (Brand); two sons, Raymond (Linda) Baker of Spencerport, NY, and James (Kim) Baker of Canastota; foster son, John Dombroski of Florida; four stepdaughters, Amanda (David) Archer, Brenda (Andrew) Taddeo, Cheryl (John) Palladino, Gail (Tim) Taylor; two brothers, Harold (Inez) and Robert (Sue) Baker; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be held Friday, September 16, at 10 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home, with the Reverend Richard Yost. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
