November 7, 2007 Charles R. Austin of Liverpool, died at home on Wednesday. Chuck grew up in Skaneateles and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an employee of Carrier Corporation for a number of years and later joined what was then Syracuse Savings bank, retiring after 18 years. Chuck was an avid golfer and played on several softball and bowling leagues. In later years, he enjoyed watching his two grandsons play baseball and hockey. He was an enthusiastic Fantasy Football League member. Chuck is survived by his wife, Helen (Walsh) Austin; a daughter, Michelle (John) Harper of Baldwinsville; a son, Charles of Liverpool; two grandsons, John and Nicholas Harper of Baldwinsville; a sister, Gretchen (Richard) Sweeney of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Austin and Priscilla Austin Wilsey, and by a sister, Jill Lamb. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 Rte. 31, Baldwinsville. Funeral services will be private.
