Andrew Lenard Caswell, 77 LURAY, Va. -- Andrew L Caswell, 77, passed away on August 5, 2011 at Page Memorial Hospital. He lived in Portland for many years and most recently resided in Luray, Va. Born on Jan. 13, 1934 in Brownville Junction, Maine, he was the son of Andrew and Annie Mae (Burfitt) Caswell. A graduate of Husson College in Bangor, Andy had a finance background and worked for the US Government as a national bank examiner and then spent many years as a bank auditor in New England. Upon retirement, he worked for the Portland Museum of Art, a role he enjoyed for several years. Andy was very family oriented and played an active role in the lives of his many nieces and nephews and helped raise some of them. He was an avid reader who also loved art, music, animals and politics. He was one of nine children and is survived by his sister Elinor McKay of Milbridge, two brothers, Donald Caswell of Scarborough and Harland Caswell of Bradenton, Fla.; and 18 nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Andy's life at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at the Old Town Hall Meeting Place, 5 Park Street, Freeport, located next to Bow Street Park. A reception will follow immediately afterwards at the Hilton Garden Inn Freeport.
